<\/p>\n
In the approach of Marie-Theres Albert, Director of the Institute Heritage Studies (IHS) at the International Academy Berlin (INA) and former Chairholder of the UNESCO Chair in Heritage Studies<\/a>, the concept of heritage, its protection and use are characterised by a holistic interpretation that understands heritage paradigmatically in the interest of human development. This is the distinctive feature of the approach of the Institute Heritage Studies and its publication series \u201cHeritage Studies\u201d.<\/p>\n This concept of heritage was developed by Marie-Theres Albert for the Master’s programme “World Heritage Studies” (WHS) and the PhD programme “Heritage Studies” and was implemented with the team of the UNESCO Chair in Heritage Studies from 2010 to 2016 at the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg as well as in the publications of the series “World Heritage Studies<\/a>“. It was further developed from 2017 at the Institute Heritage Studies in international projects and corresponding publications such as “Our World Heritage \u2013 Mining Cultural Landscape Erzgebirge\/Kru\u0161noho\u0159i<\/a>” (2017-2019) or from 2019 in the project “Transboundary European World Heritage \u2013 A Project for UNESCO Associated Schools<\/a>“.<\/p>\n Through publications on intangible heritage, documentary heritage and through the expansion of target groups and increase of topics addressed, the “Heritage Studies” series has meanwhile become internationally renowned and very well sought after. The current bestseller is the book “50 Years World Heritage: Shared Responsibility – Conflict and Reconciliation<\/a>” with 61 authors from 28 countries. It is available to download in open access here<\/a>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Anca Claudia Prodan, Ph.D.,<\/strong> researches and teaches in the field of Heritage Studies and she holds degrees in Anthropology, Philosophy, World Heritage Studies and Heritage Studies. Her current research lies at the intersection of cultural, technical and information sciences and she explores the impacts of digital technology on the generation and transmission of culture. Next to research and teaching, she has been involved with UNESCO as expert, rapporteur and corresponding member of the Sub-Committee for Education and Research of the Memory of the World Programme. She further acts as regular reviewer for several journals, such as the International Journal of Heritage Studies and the International Journal of Intangible Heritage, and she has supported the academic series Heritage Studies as member of the Editorial Advisory Board since its establishment. The most recent publications co-edited by her in that context are the books 50 Years World Heritage Convention: Shared Responsibility \u2013 Conflict & Reconciliation<\/em> published in 2022, and The UNESCO Memory of the World Programme: Key Aspects and Recent Developments <\/em>from 2020.<\/p>\n Key areas: Memory of the World \/ Digital Heritage \/ Theories of Culture \/ Human Rights<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Dr. Claire<\/strong>\u00a0Cave<\/strong> is a lecturer and coordinator of World Heritage Management programme at University College Dublin (UCD). The UCD World Heritage programme includes a PhD in World Heritage Studies, an MSc in World Heritage Management and online postgraduate courses in World Heritage Conservation.<\/p>\n Dr. Cave holds a PhD in Zoology from UCD with a focus on conservation biology. Her work centres on protected area management in view of globalization and sustainable development. She is a member of the World Heritage Technical Advisory Group to the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government which provides objective, strategic and technical advice in respect of managing and protecting World Heritage properties and bringing Tentative List sites forward for nomination.
