Students expressed their concern for the future of the Wadden Sea by painting different possible scenarios for its development. They created a series of paintings that show the current state of biodiversity in the Wadden Sea and in contrast a dystopian future in which humanity has failed to mitigate climate change and the extinction of species with a utopia in which the Wadden Sea is thriving. The series sends a clear message to the viewer to take action.
“Our group’s product was a visualisation of the Wadden Sea split into 3 paintings: the first painting is an idyllic version of the Wadden Sea and what it would look like, if we act on climate change and make a difference. The second painting is the Wadden Sea as we saw it. The third is a visualisation of what the Wadden Sea is going to look like, if we do not act on climate change and do not live sustainably.” Student’s quote
